The Adult Basic Education Program (ABE) might be for you. The program is operated by the West Virginia Department of Education and serves adults who have the desire to learn. Participants in the program have the opportunity to sharpen their existing skills or acquire new skills.
THROUGH ABE PROGRAMS, ADULTS CAN...
- Gain the speaking, listening, reading, writing, thinking and math skills needed to acquire or advance in a job.
- Earn certificates to document mastery of important job readiness and work foundations skills.
- Gain the necessary skills to meet the entrance requirements for vocational or other educational testing programs.
- Study to pass the General Educational Development (GED) high school equivalency test or the External Diploma Program.
- Obtain computer skills. Learn how to become an active participant in their children's education.
- Prepare for the citizenship test.
- Learn English as a Second Language.
- Obtain problem-solving and thinking skills needed to meet the growing demands around them.

FEATURED PROGRAM OF THE MONTH...
Board of Governor's Associate in Applied Science is a degree for the busy adult. This program allows you to use previously earned college credits, obtain credit for work and life experiences and obtain credit through testing. You can take the classes in a traditional classroom setting in one of West Virginia’s community and technical colleges. This program also allows busy adults to take classes through distance learning.
